"The best meal I've had in years". Recently, I was lucky enough to be invited to a private dinner party catered by Joe. As an ex chef and committed foodie I can be quite fussy, but every course from the melting parmesan crisp canapes to the lemon parfait with rich chocolate ganache was full of flavour, perfectly cooked and presented in a menu balanced to ensure that we weren't too full to enjoy it all! Joe used the best of local ingredients and flavours, adding his own twist - bacalhao ravioli, almond and lemon granita, black pork cheeks. I had stopped eating and cooking the bland, intensively-reared pork we get in northern Europe until I came to the Algarve and discovered black pork, which is fantastic in most places it's cooked and served. However, Joe takes it one step further. He presented a dish simultaneously melt-in-the-mouth whilst satisfyingly crispy - gorgeous! |

I was introduced to Joe prior to coming to the Algarve and we corresponded on email to organise the menu, date and cost for the catering. We were a group of 22 and having Joe come to cook for us on one evening of the holiday was a real treat! It meant that all the adults could sit down, talk and enjoy our meal; without having to worry about cooking or clearing up. Apart from that, the food was fantastic and authentic to the local region in the Algarve. |
